Higher education is a key sector that both facilitates and implements the UN SDGs. The pursuit of sustainable development in a globally connected world requires that we remain alive to the changing nature of internationalization. Internationalization has emerged as a strategic concept as well as a wide and diverse phenomenon. We live in a critical juncture of history that threatens human existence through the rise of populist nationalism, the threats of climate change, and the pandemics.
As global citizens, the stakeholders of higher education have the added responsibilities of making the world a better place for the future. The transition to the technology driven world requires collaborations and mutual understanding. Higher Education, through internationalization, can create and disseminate knowledge to negotiate with complex global challenges that we face today.
Dhaka University has already taken initiatives to integrate the UN SDGS into its teaching and learning practices, partnerships and research. It extends its resources to become an inclusive and culturally sensitive entity that promotes Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5) and Partnership (SDG 17).
There are ongoing research on all 17 UN SDGs that are influential in policy framing and implementation at both national and internal levels.
